“So this is the kitchen!” Aunty Tash said as I walked into the lovely sandstone benched kitchen. It was so big and modern. It opened out into the lounge room which had a big flat screen TV and a surround sound system. In front of the TV was a huge white leather lounge and a small glass table. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from staring in a daze at the lovely lounge room, and dragged me back up stairs. She showed me her bedroom and bathroom, and then she showed me the guest room which her niece in law, Cydnee, stays in sometimes.
“I saved the best until last!” Aunty Tash said walking into my room and opening a door to the right of my huge bed. It was a bathroom. My own bathroom. It was perfect. It had a spa bath and a lovely big mirror above the basin.
“Well, do you like your new home?” Aunty Tash looked at me and said softly.
“Are you kidding me?! I LOVE IT!” I said running up to her and squeezing her tightly in a hug.
“I’m glad, love! Would you like breakfast or anything?” She said after we hugged.
“No, thank you! I’m going to go and Skype my friends back in Australia and I might get something later” I said smiling.
“Well, just come and get me if you need anything! I’ll be in the garden. There is a cafe just down the road which is very lovely. Come and see me if you want some money.” Aunty Tash said before walking out of my perfect bathroom and bedroom.
“THANKYOU SO MUCH!” I yelled out after her, sticking my head out the door. I walked out of the bathroom, sat on my bed and opened my laptop up. I instantly got a call from Lynn asking me all about my flight, London and my new home. I told her everything, every small detail. I messaged Tyler and told him just the short details and told him that I’d video call him later. Lynn said that she was so happy to see a smile back on my face. I told her I missed her and she must come and visit me in London in the summer holidays. I said my goodbyes, then went downstairs and out into the garden. The backyard was big, bigger than my old house’s garden. The backyard was covered in green, crisp lawn which was soft on your feet. The lawn was surrounded by trees, flowers and hedges. All different flowers of all colour and sizes.
Aunty Tash was pruning the rose bushes when I walked into the garden. She lifted her head up and smiled at me.
“It’s a work in progress. Good enough for you?” she said looking up at me with a smile.
“Good?! It’s amazing!” I said with my mouth in the shape of an ‘O’.
“Thankyou sweetie!” She said while she cut off a stem from the bush.
“Do you think I could have some money to go and buy myself some food from the cafe?” I said nervously.
“Of course you can! There is a jar of money in the kitchen. The cafe is a 5 minute walk away. You go out of the driveway, turn right, left at the intersection and it’s at the end of the road. Phone me if you get lost or something happens!” Aunty Tash said, sounding just like my mum. Gosh, how I missed her.
“Okay, right then left. I think I’ve got it! I’ll be back soon! Love you” I said before running into the kitchen and grabbing some money out of the jar. I didn’t understand Euros and pence yet, so I just grabbed a handful of notes. I grabbed my phone and headed out the door. I began walking to the shop along the stone footpath. Houses and front yards were on the right side of the path and the brick road was on the left. I finally got to the café, after slowly walking and peeking into house yards. I got a croissant and a cappuccino. I sat down outside the cafe and soaked in the relaxation of my new suburb and the little cafe. The croissant was perfect, and so was the cappuccino. I eat and drank slowly so the perfection would last.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
On the way home, I got a little bit lost, so I decided to call Aunty Tash. She told me to walk back to the Cafe and she will come and meet me there. I walked back to the cafe and, still having a little bit of money left, bought myself a muffin. I sat down and read the latest Vogue magazine on one of the lounges in the cozy cafe.
Aunty Tash gave me a fright as she sat down next to me.
“What are you reading?” She said with a smile.
“Vogue magazine. I’m jealous of how pretty all the models are!” I said with a sigh.
“You’re just as pretty as them, there is no reason to be jealous! You’re perfect, Lexi!” She said, putting her hand on my shoulder. “I’ll just get a coffee and then we will head home, alright?” She said before standing up and walking over to the counter to get her coffee.
“Sounds good!” I yelled out to her.
She got her coffee, we started to head back home.
“There is someone waiting for you back at home!” Aunty Tash said while nudging me in the arm with her elbow.
“Really? Who?” I said, excitedly.
“You’ll have to wait and find out!” She said before taking a sip of her coffee.
When we got home, Aunty Tash led me into the lounge room where a teenage girl was reading a magazine on the lovely white lounge. The girl stood up and nervously smiled at me. Aunty Tash walked over to her.
“This is Cydnee, she’s Uncle Rob’s niece and she comes and stays with us a lot. Cydnee, this is Alexis.” Aunty Tash said before nudging the tall blonde towards me. She was drop dead gorgeous. She had the skinniest torso I have ever seen with long light hair. She was wearing a batman shirt and leggings which showed off how skinny her legs were. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=60794504)
“Hello. It’s so lovely to finally meet you, Alexis!” She said in her soothing English accent, before wrapping her arms around me.
“It’s really nice to meet you too! You can call me Lexi, by the way” I said with a smile.
“Well, you two chickens go upstairs while I make dinner. It’ll be around an hour!” Aunty Tash said as she walked away towards the kitchen.
“Okay. Thanks Aunty Tash!” Cydnee and I said in sync before laughing and walking up stair.
“Your accent is amazing” I blurted out.
Cydnee laughed. “Thanks! You’ll probably have one like mine when you are here for a few months! I love yours too! Australians are hot!” she giggled.
“I can’t wait! English guys are perfect. One direction!” I said before letting out a little squeal.
“I know! I saw them in concert last year! Best day of my life!” she squealed. I let out a sigh of joy to know that she was a Directioner too.
“We should go to their next one together!” I said before letting out a small squeal.
“That is the best idea! We should go see when their next concert is!” She said before we both ran to my room.
I’m really really sorry for not posting any chapters lately! My phone died, and I had like 10 chapters on there! I’ll try and get another one up soon, but I’m really busy until the second week in October!
SORRY!
thank you so much :’) that means alot! my first reader message :’)
yeah, i’ll post the next chapter up today! xo
The next 2 days went fast. Faster than fast itself. I wanted them to go as slow as possible, but that didn’t happen..
I spent Tuesday shopping in Perth City with Delilah and my best friends Lynn and Tyler. We went to City Beach, Forever New, Sportsgirl, Peter Alexander, Factorie and Myers. I spent most of my money from my job I had before the accident. I still had my mum and dad’s money, in the bank. I am saving that for England.
On Wednesday, we went to Rottnest (an island off the coast of Perth) for the day. Delilah and I went snorkelling and bike riding for a few hours, before returning home, going out for dinner and packing my stuff. My last full day at home. In Australia, for a long time.
I woke up on Thursday morning feeling happier than I expected to be. I was actually excited! I was looking forward to a change. I rolled out of bed and had a quick shower. I put on a cream collared top, a blue skirt and some brown lace ups (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=53002685). I grabbed my black backpack and all my suitcases and brought them out into the kitchen. My flight was at 11AM so I ate breakfast a beautiful breakfast which Delilah made of pancakes and golden syrup. After eating and cleaning up, Delilah helped me load the car with my 3 bags and we left for the International Airport.
When we arrived, I checked in, got my ticket and we both went up to the departure lounge. My flight was expected to be 25 hours long so I’d get into Heathrow at around 4AM London time. Delilah and I got a coffee and headed for my boarding gate.
“So, Aunty Tash will meet you at the boarding gate and take you back to her house.” Delilah said before sitting down on the lounge near my boarding gate.
“At 4 o’clock in the morning? Wow, she is keen.” I said sarcastically, slurping at my coffee.
“Alexis, please be good! Don’t be a little bitchy teenager for Aunty Tash and Uncle Rob.” She said putting her arm on my shoulder.
“Delilah! I was only joking! I won’t, don’t worry about me. I’m going to be absolutely fine!” I said, before standing up and pulling her up and into a hug.
“I’m going to miss you, Lexi!” She said while she squeezed me tightly.
“I’ll miss you too, Lilah!” I said before kissing her on the cheek.
“Tell Aunty Tash and Uncle Rob that I lov——”
“FLIGHT JX6703 TO HEATHROW, LONDON IS NOW BOARDING AT GATE 7. FLIGHT JX6703 TO HEATHROW, LONDON IS NOW BOARDING AT GATE 7” the lady boomed through the loud speaker before Delilah could say any more.
“I love you, lilah! Take care of Perth for me!” I said before giving her a long hug and sobbing on her shoulder.
“I’ll be here for you Lexi, I’m just a phone call away! I love you! Have fun, chicken! Go get ‘em!” Delilah said before kissing my cheek. I grabbed my bags, walked up to the gate and gave the flight attendant my ticket.
“Have a lovely flight!” The blonde, tall, tanned flight attendant said to me, with a smile before handing me my ticket. A tear fell down my cheek but I wiped it away, took my ticket from the gorgeous lady’s grasp and smiled at her. I turned around and blew Delilah a kiss.
“I’LL MISS YOU DELILAH AND PERTH!” I shouted with tears streaming down my face. I turned around and walked very slowly down the hallway, trying to hold back the tears. I touched the outside of the plane for good luck. My friends and I all started doing it when we went on Year 6 Camp to Canberra. I found my seat which was in the middle of the big jet plane. I got my iPod and headphones out of my small black backpack, put my bag in the overhead luggage holder and sat down. I plugged in my headphones to my iPod and shoved the headphones in my ears and turned my iPod on shuffle. Ten minutes after, we were zooming along the runway, swiftly leaving the ground and ascending into the sky. Within 5 minutes of being in the air, I drifted off to sleep.
————————————————————————————————————-
“….We are now about 10 minutes away from landing, please make sure your seat is in the up-right position and your seat belt is tightly on. Sorry for the delay and thank you for flying with us! Welcome to London.” The captain said as he interrupted my sleep. I didn’t have the best flight. There was very strong turbulence as we flew over Asia, which woke me up. I didn’t have any lunch or dinner. I was in and out of sleep for the whole trip.
I pulled myself up and wiped my eyes. I checked my phone; 12.14PM Perth time. I pulled my chair up and did up my seatbelt. I plugged my headphones in and stared out the window. I could see bright lights in the distance. My new home. I had never been to London before, so I began to get excited. I lay back in my chair trying to get a grip of the plans for the next 24 hours. I would get back to Aunty Tash’s and Uncle Rob’s and eat breakfast. I would unpack my clothes and other things. Probably check out my Facebook and Tumblr and then just chill out for the rest of the day. I closed my eyes and sighed. I miss Perth already. I miss my parents. I looked out the window to get my mind off my parents and home because it would end in tears. I could see lights everywhere. London was so big compared to Perth. Perth is a desert compared with any other cities.
We were getting closer and closer to my new life every second and in a way, I didn’t want it. I wanted my old life back. My friends. My home. My parents. But I knew things can’t change. History can not be re-written, so I’m going to have to just think positive. ‘London will be amazing. You’re going to be fine. You’re new life will be good.’ I kept repeating over in my head. Before long my positive thoughts were disturbed by the loud noise of the plane wheels hitting the runway hard and hurdling to a stop. I packed up my things and waited for the plane to pull in to the gate. I turned on my phone and saw if I had any new messages. Three messages: one from Delilah, one from Tyler and one from Lynn. I slowly read the messages and before I felt tears streaming down my face. I wiped them away just before the seatbelt sign turned off. I pulled myself together before pushing into the line, getting my bags from the overhead storage and hopping off the plane.

“ALEXIS!” A middle aged, English lady yelled out before running over to me and wrapping her arms around me.
“Hey, Aunty Tash” I said before lightly hugging her back.
“It’s so good to see you, love! I haven’t seen you since you were a tiny little baby! Wow, you’re absolutely gorgeous! Little stunner, you are!” Aunty Tash said with a big smile on her face.
“Ah, thank you! You don’t look too bad yourself!” I said awkwardly.
“Well, let’s get you home, love.” She said before taking my carryon bag and walking to the baggage carousel.
After spending half an hour getting both of my bags, we went and found the car and began to drive to Aunty Tash’s house, my new home.
“So where do you live?” I asked her while she started up the car.
“Uncle Rob and I live just 10 minutes north of Central London!” She said smiling. She gave me a quick tour of London. There was so much to see, I didn’t know where to look! We drove past a recording studio and there were around 50 screaming, crying girls standing around the entrance.
“God, the girls are at it again…” Aunty Tash whispered.
“Who are they waiting for at this time of the day?” I asked curiously, looking at the clock which said 6.07AM.
“I don’t know love, probably that boy band called one… One… On—”
“ONE DIRECTION!?” I said quickly, practically screaming.
“Yeah, those boys.. You know them?” Aunty Tash said sounding surprised.
“Aunty Tash, who doesn’t know those boys?! They’re one of the biggest boy bands in the world!” I said with the biggest smile on my face. I couldn’t believe that I actually forgot about the lads living in England. London. My new home! I am officially living in the same area as the boys I have been obsessing over for years.
We continued driving until Aunty Tash pulled into a small driveway and stopped just in front of a little white garage. To the right of the garage was a beautiful two-story house painted white with a brown roof. It had 2 balconies on the second floor and to the front of the house there was a garden, filled with daisies, roses and small bushes.
Aunty Tash grabbed my bag from the back seat of the car a lead me inside the house. The door was a wooden oak door with a little rusty old door knob. Aunty Tash opened the door and offered me in first. My jaw dropped as I stepped into the lovely house. White walls with a lovely wooden floor. A big staircase leading up to the second floor. Paintings and photographs, hanging on the walls. It was one of the most amazing houses I have ever been in.
“Come on, love! I’ll show you your room!” Aunty Tash said as she scurried up the stairs. I quickly ran up the stairs after her. At the top of the stairs she turned left and walked up to a white door.
“This is your room, Lexi!” she said as she opened the door. I walked in and froze. It was perfect. It had grey/blue walls with a white carpet. A king sized bed with blue and white cushions and white draws beside it. (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6yyber2iF1rxnbwuo1_500.jpg). I ran and jumped on my new bed. It was so soft that, I just fell into the duvet.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Aunty Tash! I love it so much!” I said before a little squeal.
“Glad you like it, Hun! Come downstairs after you’re settled in and I’ll show you around.” She said before turning around and walking out of my room, shutting the door behind her. I picked up my feather pillow which was soft as silk and slammed it against my face and began to scream into it. This was perfect! I got up and started to un-pack my things. I put my clothes into the wardrobe and my laptop on my bed, before running back downstairs.
